Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS)
What is it?
MTSS is a tiered instructional process that allows our staff to identify struggling students early on and provide appropriate interventions. Early intervention means more chances for success to help those students reach their academic goals.
How does it work?
Students are assessed, allowing us to identify areas that each child is struggling in. Individual instruction is then designed to target those areas in which the student is having difficulty. Support for each student is delivered in a multifaceted approach with the help of the general classroom teacher and the MTSS specialists. Instruction is student-centered and data-focused to accurately track each student's success.
What MTSS is NOT.
Special seating in classroom
Shortened assignments
Parent-teacher conferences
“More of the same” general classroom instruction
