Middle School MTSS
Middle School MTSS is a bit different than MTSS at the elementary level. It is a class built into some middle schooler's schedules that they attend five days a week.
The purpose of MTSS is to remediate and enrich students, instructing them on the skills that they specifically need. During the second week of school, they will take a test that gives immediate feedback as to the skills they are lacking. This data is used to gear the instruction of the MTSS class.
The general schedule of MTSS is that two weeks of instruction time will be focused on math work in small groups, then students will spend two weeks working on hands on problems and real life/word/story problems and apply the skills that they learned in small groups. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to catch up on skills that they are lacking, or to be challenged in areas where they excel, depending on what they need.
